About This Spot

Arriving at Haga district in Gothenburg, Sweden, the atmosphere was enchanting and reminiscent of a fairy tale. The misty weather added to the Nordic charm, with quaint shops and cafes lining the streets. The scent of cinnamon from the pastries wafted through the air, drawing us into a cozy cafรฉ. Inside, the giant cinnamon rolls called hagabula greeted us with their towering spirals and rich, sugary aroma.

What makes Haga district truly special is the hagabula, enormous cinnamon rolls that are a local favorite. The hagabula we sampled was a massive, fluffy confection with a beautiful spiral and a generous amount of cinnamon sugar. The chunky sugar pieces on top added a delightful crunch, and the bottom was glazed to perfection, making each bite a symphony of flavors. Despite the size, the cinnamon roll was not dry and had a satisfying sweetness that filled our bellies. It was a perfect, albeit heavy, start to our food tour in Gothenburg.
